A building long regarded as a bit of a blot on the Benllech landscape has disappeared thanks to a project being managed by Gaerwen-based Peninsula Home Improvements & Conservatories.
The ex-amusement arcade attached to a property known as Sea Shell in Beach Road, that's lain derelict and boarded up for many years has at last been demolished and will be replaced by a luxury conservatory designed and erected by the company for the new owners of the property.
“It's been a complex project that not only involved demolition, but also the design of a structure that would blend in with its surroundings as well as assisting the owners of the property through the planning process and the construction of a new courtyard once the conservatory has been built” Peninsula MD, Ken Grayson, said.
Mr Grayson and the new owners would also like to hear from anybody who has any photographs of the amusement arcade in its heyday that they might be prepared to allow them to copy for their photographic archive.
“The building may have been old and dilapidated but it was a part of Benllech's history and we think it would be nice if it would be possible for some record of its existence in its heyday to be kept for posterity” Mr Grayson added.
