Awards nomination for Anglesey home improvement firm
AN ANGLESEY company is to be recognised for its contribution to the arts at a prestigious awards ceremony in Llandudno later this month.
Gaerwen based Peninsula Home Improvements embarked upon the employee led project earlier this year which saw staff divided into five teams of two people who were challenged by MD Ken Grayson to show off their skills and use their imagination by installing some of the company's products in unusual settings.
The results were recorded by Ruthin-based professional photography team made up of Katy Morgan and her artist/photographer father, John Butland Morgan.
Now, the company will be one of 20 Welsh businesses, including two other Ynys Mon firms, to receive a certificate of excellence to mark their efforts from Welsh Assembly Government Deputy First Minister and Ynys Mon AM, Ieuan Wyn Jones, at a prestigious awards ceremony being held at Oriel Mostyn in Llandudno on Thursday, November 25.
Commenting about his company's involvment, Mr Grayson, said "Peninsula and our sister company, Heritage Hardwood Conservatories have both had a long relationship with Arts & Business Cymru as well as with many community projects over the years and we saw this not just as a team building excercise but also as an opportunity to once more show our support for the arts by showing off the creative skills our staff have acquired over many years of finding solutions to all sorts of unforeseen real-life installation situations."
All the unusual locations were chosen by Peninsula staff themselves and include a door fitted into the sand at Porth Trecastell, a window installed at a quarry face near Holyhead, building decking in a ruined cottage near Llangefni and installing a balustrade to a tree in an area overlooking the Menai Straits.
